🍎 Serving Up Something Special at De Queen Public Schools! 🐆

Our Food Service Department does so much more than serve meals—they find ways to make our students feel supported, celebrated, and cared for!

From bringing some fun to lunchtime with Pizza Daze to preparing and delivering after-school snacks for our student-athletes, our food service team is always going the extra mile for our Leopard Family.

September also brought a special celebration of culture as our kitchen staff prepared pozole and colorful Jell-O in recognition of Mexican Independence Day, sharing food, heritage, and tradition with our students.

And we can’t let the month go by without recognizing Chef Brad and our incredible food service staff for the creativity, hard work, and heart they bring to our schools every single day.

De Queen Junior High School had a successful Parent Night on September 15, 2026. Many parents and students attended Parents Make a Difference Night, where they had the opportunity to meet with teachers and administrators to discuss their students' education, enter a drawing for a door prize, and sign up for Apptegy Rooms and HAC. For every teacher or administrator a parent spoke with, their student received a ticket to enter the drawing. FCCLA held a bake sale during the event, and a representative from Girl Scouts Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas was also on hand. Apptegy Rooms is the new platform the school uses to make communication between parents and the school easier, and HAC (Home Access Center) is the online grade-reporting system where students and parents can check grades, attendance, schedules, and missing assignments.

Reminder for picture day, De Queen Junior High School on September 21, 2026 .

De Queen Public Schools will dismiss early today due to the district-wide power outage. Power has not been restored, and School Drive remains completely closed due to downed power lines. Dismissal Information:

Car riders: Parents may begin picking up students at their school’s front office now. High school students should be picked up at the Junior High office due to the School Drive closure.

Student drivers: Students who drive themselves are being released now.

Bus riders: Buses will run at 9:30 AM to allow families time to make arrangements for someone to be home when students arrive.

Please use caution around the area and avoid School Drive. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our students and families safe.

Tonight is “Parents Make a Difference Night!”

We invite you to visit with your child’s teachers and learn about resources available to help you encourage and support your student’s success.

The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 6:00 p.m. in the Junior High Cafeteria. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

For each teacher or booth you and your child visit, your child will receive a ticket to enter a drawing for a Nintendo Switch and game.

Flu shot forms will be sent home with students today, Tuesday, September 8, district-wide. Extra forms will also be available in each school office.

📅 Forms are due Tuesday, September 22.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Parents/guardians must complete both the front AND back of page 4 and complete and sign page 5. Students cannot receive a flu shot if all required information is not completed and signed.

Our bus drivers play an important role in our #LeopardFamily. They help make sure our students start and end their school day safely and with a familiar, caring face.

🚌 Route driver pay: $24/hour
🚌 178-day school schedule
🚌 Morning and afternoon routes with your day in between
🚌 Sick and personal leave for contracted route drivers
🚌 Incentive pay available for unused sick days
🚌 Substitute driving opportunities also available

Don’t have your CDL yet? Don’t count yourself out! There are steps required to obtain a Class B CDL and the necessary school bus endorsements, and our transportation department can help you understand the process and what you need to get started.
